Metabolic Intelligence
The metabolic education the system never gave you.
You’ve been told your bloods are “normal”, your blood pressure is “a bit high”, your cholesterol “needs a statin”, your weight is “a lifestyle issue”.
Nobody has ever sat down and explained how your thyroid, insulin, leptin, blood pressure, cholesterol and medications all fit together as one metabolic system.
Metabolic Intelligence is a live online group program starting in January where I teach you exactly that – in plain English, with zero fluff, and no “just take this pill and crack on”.
Who Metabolic Intelligence is for
This is for you if any of these feel uncomfortably familiar:
You’ve been told your thyroid is “normal” but you feel exhausted, cold, foggy and heavy in your own body.
You’ve been warned about your blood pressure, cholesterol or HbA1c and left with a leaflet and a prescription.
You’re on one (or several) medications and nobody has explained what they’re doing to your metabolism, weight, energy or appetite.
You feel stuck in a loop of cravings, weight gain, poor sleep, brain fog and anxiety, and every solution you’re offered is either a crash diet or another pill.
You’re intelligent, you read, you listen to podcasts – but you still don’t have a clear map of how all the pieces fit together in your body.
Metabolic Intelligence is not for you if:
You want a 6-week bikini shred, meal plans and “motivation”.
You just want someone to tell you exactly what to eat and never ask why.
You’re looking to replace your doctor with some bloke on the internet – this is education, not a shadow clinic.
What you’ll walk away understanding
By the end of this program you will have a doctor-level map of your own metabolism – without needing a medical degree.
You’ll understand:
The metabolic map
How thyroid, insulin, leptin, cortisol, blood pressure, cholesterol and your nervous system actually talk to each other.
Why you can’t fix one in isolation and expect the rest to behave.Insulin, glucose & blood pressure
How insulin resistance really develops, how it wrecks nitric oxide and stiffens your arteries, and why it pushes up blood pressure long before your glucose looks abnormal.Appetite, leptin & weight
Why you can feel starving in a body that has plenty of fat.
What leptin resistance is, how crash dieting makes it worse, and what a sane, physiology-respecting approach to fat loss actually looks like.Thyroid & energy systems
Why “TSH in range” doesn’t mean your thyroid system is fine.
How thyroid interacts with iron, stress, sleep, calories and training – and why so many people stay symptomatic on medication.Blood pressure as a metabolic symptom, not a random disease
Cardiac output, vascular resistance, RAAS, sympathetic tone – in language you’ll actually remember.
Why “essential hypertension” is usually “uninvestigated metabolic hypertension”.Cholesterol, ApoB & context
What cholesterol is actually doing in your body.
Why ApoB/LDL means something very different in an inflamed, insulin-resistant body vs a metabolically healthy one.
Where statins fit, and what they don’t fix.Medications & your metabolism
The metabolic fingerprints of common drugs: antidepressants, blood pressure meds, statins, GLP-1s, steroids, etc.
How they can help, how they can quietly make things worse, and how to think about them like a CEO, not a passive patient.Building your own metabolic strategy
How to translate all of this into your next steps: what to ask for, what to track, what to change, and how to work with your own doctor rather than against them.
How Metabolic Intelligence runs
Live teaching sessions
Fortnightly live online sessions where I teach one part of the metabolic map – insulin, thyroid, blood pressure, cholesterol, meds, etc.
Expect deep dives, not Instagram/TikTok snippets. You’ll be able to ask questions live.Q&A and hot-seat time
Every session includes time for Q&A. You can bring your lab printouts, diagnoses and a notepad full of “no one has ever explained this to me” questions.
I won’t be giving individual medical advice, but I will help you interpret patterns and understand what’s going on.Recordings & resources
All calls are recorded so you don’t have to attend live to keep up.
You’ll also get PDFs / summaries of key concepts, diagrams of the metabolic pathways we talk about, and question prompts to take to your own clinician.Private community
A simple group space where you can ask questions between sessions, share wins, and realise you’re not the only one who’s been told “your bloods are fine” while you feel awful.Timeframe
The January cohort runs for 12 weeks – long enough to cover the core systems properly, short enough that you actually finish it.
What makes Metabolic Intelligence different
Not another diet. Not another protocol.
This isn’t:
A calorie-counting bootcamp
A list of “good foods” and “bad foods”
A protocol I pretend will fix everyone
This is:
Systems thinking, not symptom chasing
You’ll finally see how all your “separate” problems – thyroid, weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, energy, mood – are different faces of the same metabolic system.A doctor who isn’t hiding behind 10-minute guidelines
I prescribe medications. I’ve worked inside the NHS. I also know how much gets missed when the only tools are guidelines and repeat scripts.
Here, I have the time to teach you what I wish I could say in clinic. No dumbing down
You are not stupid. You don’t need pastel infographics and three bullet points.
I’ll use real physiology – RAAS, nitric oxide, leptin, ApoB – and make it understandable, not infantilised.Respect for medication, respect for metabolism
I am not anti-drug. I’m anti only drug.
We’ll talk openly about when meds make sense, what they do to your metabolism, and how to think about deprescribing with your own doctor – without reckless “ditch all your meds” nonsense.
What changes when you develop Metabolic Intelligence?
By the end of this program, you should:
Understand your own lab results
Not every number, but the patterns – how your lipids, thyroid, glucose, liver, BP and weight talk to each other.Stop blaming yourself for things that were never about willpower
See cravings, fatigue, weight, blood pressure and cholesterol as information about systems, not moral failings.Know which levers to pull first
Instead of doing 27 hacks at once, you’ll know: “For me, the biggest leverage points are sleep, muscle, food pattern, medication review, or X.”Have better conversations with clinicians
You’ll know what to ask, what’s reasonable, and how to advocate for yourself without needing to be a doctor.Feel less scared of your own body
When you can map what’s happening, you move from “my body is broken” to “my system is out of tune, and I know where to start tuning it.”
Who’s teaching you?
I’m Dr Dan, a UK medical doctor.
On social media, I’ve become known for taking down lazy medicine:
why half the country qualifies for a statin on paper
why we call high blood pressure a “disease” instead of a metabolic signal
why your “normal” thyroid labs don’t match how dreadful you feel
how medications quietly reshape your metabolism.
Metabolic Intelligence is where I stop compressing that into 30-second TikToks and actually teach you the full systems map, live, with space for questions.

FAQs
-
No. This is educational. I’ll teach you how metabolism works, how to interpret patterns in your own health and lab results, and what questions to ask. I won’t be diagnosing, changing your medication, or giving individual treatment plans – that always stays between you and your own doctor.
-
It may help you understand why you’re on them, what they’re doing to your physiology, and what levers you can pull to improve your metabolic health. Any decision to reduce or stop medication must be made with your own clinician, not on a group call. What I’ll give you is the knowledge and language to have that conversation more safely and confidently.
-
Yes. The physiology is the same wherever you live. Some details of guidelines and drug names differ, but the core systems – thyroid, insulin, leptin, BP, cholesterol – are universal.
-
In many ways, you’re the ideal person. The earlier you understand your metabolic system, the fewer diagnoses and medications you’ll collect. Prevention isn’t about one vitamin and a multigrain biscuit. It’s about understanding the system before it breaks.
-
There’ll be simple reflection prompts and practical suggestions between sessions – nothing graded, no shame. The aim is to connect what you’re learning to your life, not to give you another to-do list to fail.
